Trick or Treat?
As Halloween approaches does anyone remember “trickle down economics”? About five years ago it was all the rage. Instead of the so-called politics of envy or “Tax the rich and look after the poor” we were supposed to let the rich get even richer and then the benefits of a free market economy would “trickle down”. I think we all know who got tricked and who got the treats out of that scam. And it is still going on.
On Mischief Night I lock my door
Against the knocking of the poor.
"Trick or treat?" I hear them cry.
"We need to eat or we will die!"
"The treats are on the roof," I frown.
"Just wait and they will trickle down.
